Nice one.![]()
My drawing with the Great War-theme. Nieuport 17 C-1 captured the German Army.
Very nice indeed! I like the weathering and overall look. Any more Nieuport to show us? I'm always interested in French birds. ;-)
Being very picky is the grain going quite the right way in the front strut, it looks to be going at an angle to the strut and not with the strut so would be weaker. Also was the prop constructed of laminates, I'm not really familiar with French birds tbh, it's all a matter of taste and I know what they can do to Gamery!
Harriers...uppy downy things.
Nice! Lots of texture use![]()
FAST AND BULBOUS!
Noob question perhaps: aren't all wooden props made of laminate? I've never seen one made from a massive chunk of wood. My not having seen any doesn't mean it's not possible of course...Also was the prop constructed of laminates![]()
AFAIK, yes, always laminated. But they don't always show, sometimes they are made up of the same wood and only show faint lines between wood sections.
Looks like all the photos I could find quick don't show laminations...

(Yes, I know these aren't all 17s but they're all about right and all French)
Some French planes of this time had metal cladding on the tips.

Always learning something new and occasionally it's useful as well.

Looking at the Photos again (since I posted at work) it's really surprising how little of the lamination you can see-

You could easily say this was a solid mahogany propeller...but...

...the close-up shows 7 ply assembly.
Neat stuff!!!
