    ww-1 netherland roundells

    To those in the know,
    i would appreciate help in locateing roundell's for ww-1 area a/c in the netherland's airforce.
    although to my knowledge they did not participate the roundells would be helpfull.thank-you in advance

    That will be fun, a whole airforce made up of captured aircraft! The Dutch got them all at one time or another during the war

    Oh Yes indeed, many intresting types where captured in Holland. Including some Gotha bombers and even a Handley Page HP 0/400 bomber! according to 'Hugo Hooftman' in his book 'Nederlandse Militaire LUchtvaart in beeld deel 1 (1913-1940)' some 107 aircraft from 46 diffrent types where captured. Not all have flown in the aviation service tough. Some of them did, some of them where returned, some of them where put away or sold for scrap. But never the less, it was an intresting start for the Dutch air arm.

    But as Serval made clear, the orange sphere was the Dutch insigna during WWI.

    p.s. From 1921 till 1939, this roundel, below, was adopted as national insigna. From 1932, the insigna was twisted so it looked exactly like the modern day dutch roundell.
