SBD-3 BuNo 03315 "Black 16" of VS-71, CV-7 USS Wasp, August 1942.
On the 25th of August 1942 this SBD was flown by two pilots to shoot down three Japanese aircraft. On the morning search Lt(jg) Chester Zaleewski splashed two 'Jake' floatplanes from the cruisers Atago and Haguro. Later that afternoon Lt Morris Doughty led his divison against a H8K 'Emily', which was shot down- the SBD's had been on an anti-shipping strike at the time. Three documented victory flags on one SBD undoubtedly stood as a record.
