    Fiat CR.42

I haven't done any new model recently, so I decided I'd make one and hose the CR.42. This is still a WIP but feel free to tell me what you think.

I'm working on a new scale: 30 cm at 300 dpi. This is a 100% shot:

I hope you like it. I'll post the finished version when ready.

    You're right about the colour:

I just hadn't done the "stains" yet. I still need to reinforce the shading as it looks too flat. Some stencilling, the squadron logo and other things are also missing. Lots of other things to do as well, including the shading for the canvas.

I'm using an excellent walkaround from the Air Warfare Forum as a basis. I'll be making more when this first model is finished. Any ideas or requests welcome.

A close-up of the cockpit with the added rivets and canvas tape:

BTW, Santynus, what do you think of the panel lines? I've tried a new technique here: I drew the panel line in 1px black, with opacity down to 30-40%. I then duplicated the layer, set it under and called it "white lines". I then inverted the colours to have them white, and moved the whole layer 1px down and 1 px right. I find this gives more depth to the panel lines. The downside is that one has to erase the white lines in the places where there should be no light reflection.

    F-8E (FN) WiP

I'm a bit fed up with the CR.42 because I just don't know wether I'm painting them right or not. I know zilch about Italian colours and schemes. Some more will be coming nonetheless.

This is my new baby: the F-8E Crusader, in the French Navy version. Keep in mind that it's not finished yet but don't refrain from criticism...

    Re: Fiat CR.42

@ Santino: thanks for your kind offer. I've been a little frustrated with the CR.42 indeed ... But now I'm having great fun with the F-8 Crusader, just like a kid with its new toy. In a couple of days, I'll make a fuss, throw it away and want another one...

But if ever you or anybody else wants a "tailor-made" CR.42 to illustrate an article or something, I'll go back to it... How long have you been making profiles, Santino? I really started about a year ago.
