    Lightbulb Having Trouble.

So I am on Simmers Paintshop, browsing the color index, and gathering whatever references I need to make my 109F2 Skin for my mission(s)...and then I realize that making the skin is not as easy as I had initially thought it would be.

I model a lot, usually miniatures, and tanks, (1:32, to 15mm scale!) and I enjoy photoshopping my head on attractive bodies...so I assumed I could do this with ease; apparently not.

I read some of the tutorials, and for some odd reason, still confused, in some cases. I assumed it was my train of thought/adhd that is causing me to 'not' focus, but it isn't.

I have come to the conclusion that I need some guidance on how to arrange my layers, remove white, etc.

Could someone give me a (project log) 'flow chart' of some sort, or possibly some sort of list (i have a loss for words unfortunately, it could be from the memory loss problem) to show where to begin, or what you (they) prefer to do when making skins?

I usually like to formulate a skeleton of what I will be doing, so I can micro-manage, step-by-step everything that I will model.

Thanks for reading my ranting/psychotic ramble, I hope I get something positive out of it.

    Regards,

    Re: Having Trouble.

Have you tried looking at some templates? I've found this to be the best method to see how templates are made.

You will find that there is no certain way to make a template, it's really up to you how it is made. For the casual skinner or new skinner you might try using one of Jesters lovely templates, untill you have the nack of using a template down. Then you can start your own.

Ok, so I'll give a template a shot, but the question still stands; what is the method (yours, anyones) to skinning, layer by layer? From each persons opinion, what steps does it take to build a 'nice skin'.

This is not such an easy question to answer because everyone works differently. How you assemble your layers, and what layers are on top of others depends how the layers are set to react with the ones below them.
    First, look here-
    http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...ins-voids.html
This gives you some starting basics.
This next tutorial will show you the general mechanics of working with layers-
    http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...photoshop.html
But, just about every tutorial below deals with layer set-up in one way or another-
    http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...m37-photoshop/
Wolf's suggestion is a good one. If you download a layered template and examine it you'll get a good idea of how the layers are built.
Think of it as building a model, first you need a foundation, the general shapes that the plane is made up of. Then you need the surface details, panel lines, rivets etc. Then you can paint it and add your decals. But where to put the paint and decal layers? See the tutorials
    I hope that helps
