There are some fonts with symbols. Try the dingbats you find here: FREE AIRCRAFT FONTS - Download - Army, Navy, Air Force, Aircraft Typefaces
But I would prefer to draw the star myself.
Is there a Truetype font or dingbat that has modern US military markings? I'm mainly interested in the "star" on US aircraft. I've done google searches without any luck. Thanks in advance. DougD

Me tooI did one nice vectored star path a LONG time ago and have since reused it over and over. That's one nice part about paths, once they're made you've always got them, any size regardless of resolution

AhI can't give you much help here except in Photoshop or Illustrator. I think most other graphics applications have vectoring capabilities. If you can wait a few days I'll put together a simple vector tutorial just for this question.
