It's a good start but I would swap out the background colour for something more neutral

    OW! MY EYES! MY EYES!!!

    Just kidding!

Per Supah, swap out the background (white is preferred), and the profile will be much easier on the eyes. Once that's taken care of, you can start focusing on shading (at the moment the fuselage looks incongruously flat) and maybe ease up on the opacity of the canopy glass. Other then that, it's a good start; you've starting to get the hang of the basics of the art form.

Well matt if you are using Photoshop you should look into using paths as a way of making you selections. With paths you can "save" your selections, Anti alias selections and make more accurate curves in selections. Any chance of a higher resolution image by the way ?

    Re: First Ever Profile

I do my shading the old-fashioned way - a line of white or black near the edge, high Gaussian Blur, then trim to fit. Labour-intensive though it may be, you simply can't argue with the results.

    Have fun!
