I like it the way it's weathered right there. Late (Merlin) WW2 Mustangs were usually not that dirty (Allison-engined and Korean War ones were), so I don't think you'd want to do much more, unless that specific aircraft was very dirty.

Yeah, sometimes they were pretty dirty!
The belly is filthy and look at those unsightly streaks under the star in the side view! Who's the crew chief?!?!

Its funny that you posted these images as I have copies of each and the 3ed one in particular was one of my main sources of inspiration. As for the profile with the internals showing, it didn't take long at all, just a few masks and I was off, still much to be done on that front.
