    Re: Nice B25 Freeware

I remember my first (and only) MSFS. That was in mid 1980's with only a Cessna - IIRC, and CGA graphic.

Looking at that Mitchell, I can't help but thinking what will the MSFS looks like in the next 5 years.

Man, we've come a long way...

Yeah, its scarey huh?? I fully believe that in the next 10 years, you will not be able to tell the difference between flight sim footage and real life film.

Very likely. As good as graphics card shaders are today, a few more years will be mind boggling.

    Re: Nice B25 Freeware

    Hi all,

This B25 is certainly an original by Roy Chaffin, his stuff is here -

    http://www.roychaffin.com/rcs-panels.html

some nice stuff, but don't go painting, modding, or uploading as I think he has a 'Hall of shame' and takes it very seriously!!

    Cheers

    Re: Nice B25 Freeware

His Hall of shame is about people misusing his work.

I think he won't have a problem with making a new paintwork for his models.
And as allways: just contact the original author and read his statements and I think there is nothing wrong.

I noticed many people getting angry for misusing their work, but when you ask almost all of them say it's OK and ask/demand to give credits.
I think that is something you allways should do when you use things made by other people.

Erm...actually, it does state "no unauthorised repaints" in the read me file with the plane. Its a shame because the paintwork is probably the weakest area of the whole package They do seem to have gone rather over the top with regards to people making mods to their work, not really in the spirit of sharing things with the community I dont have anything against people making payware and then protecting it in this way but to upload freeware and then get arsey with people doing repaints is pretty lame If you don't want people messing with it, don't make it public property.....simple really.

    Re: Nice B25 Freeware

In that case it's quite clear. But the word "unauthorised" also leaves some space to ask permission.
I agree that they are spoiling some fun here. But given the discussions I remember from the Ubi and il2skins forums, who knows what events has brought them to that...

    Re: Nice B25 Freeware

Having delved a bit deeper, it seems that the owner of this work is in dispute with another well known B25 FS model creator....sounds like things got nasty and very political Still dont see what harm making repaints would do though

    Re: Nice B25 Freeware

I don't see the harm eighter, but especially when you want to release your work, then it's best to contact him.
And maybe it has to do with people who are repainting and then selling the repaints for his freeware model. I wouldn't like that eighter.
Sounds a bit like the fuzz we had on il2skins where some payware site released repaints for some skins that were clearly remapped versions from several skins that came from il2skins.

Probably it's like often: the good suffer from the actions of the bad.
