Profiles can be assumptions. I'd go for real pictures if you want to be accurate.
I only found a few profiles of F4U-1(A)'s of 214. That is all I have.
I hope I placed this in the right place....
I need some assistance in a skinning project I am doing. I have been requested to make skins for Corsair F4U-1C's (at least that is what he is using in his Korean War campaign) of VMF 214 and VMF 323. The requester gave me some pictures but it is a bit confusing. In particular I am looking for "Death Rattler" squadron planes and planes from both the "WE" and "WS" squadrons. He also included a "Jolly Rogers" emblem although my research to this point only indicates the planes of VF-17 that were used in the Pacific Theatre of WW II. However I haven't yet found any a/c using this emblem in the squads he wants.
Views of the top starboard wing would be very helpful as it seems their were many variations of markings, some with just the plane number, some with lettercodes and numbers and varying in size. I'd like to be as accurate as possible. Although I have most of the Bureau numbers again pictures showing placement and relative size would be useful.
Some of these planes bore "Marines" and some didn't.
I went through 12 pages of profiles on Wings Palette with little success. Few of their profiles (none in fact for the planes I was looking for) had top/bottom views although I did find a few that gave me clues as to placement of Bureau numbers.
(If it is of any relevance, this is for the IL-2/1946 game engine.)
Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
