Love the Stuka's m8. The whole set is brilliant, but I really like the Stukas.

No, I was refereeing to something less graphic in approach and more "true to life," more photographic in nature. Sure, one way is no better than the other and we all make decisions as to how our art will look and what we want out of it.Do you mean 3D stuff?
I think mainly I want to challenge myself, if I know I can do something, I want to do more and go further next time.
What I was proposing wouldn't work good with any paying job with a deadline but it might be a good exercise to see how far you can go. Most of us here are still learning as we go but you have obviously mastered the style you've chosen.
When I see someone who is doing something really good I get exited wondering how much further that person could go
About 3D stuff, I've seen several really good 3D artist but they usually lack something, possibly because all the light, dark, texture and shape are computer created; not as much room for personal artistic talent or flair. Too mechanical maybe?
FAST AND BULBOUS!
Okay I understand now! Of course it's possible to improve the work. There are really many great profileartists around the globe doing such work for really long time or are learned graphic designer. I'm not one of these guys, I'm a greenhorn on that subject although I have published some of my work. Normally I just do one plane as profile per year. So you can imagine that the improvement of my technique is very slow. Learning by Doing is the way to do. I know. In the last years I had to do many profiles. If you have no time as the deadline is very close, you don't have really much time for experiments. I think the improvement of my style is visible:
Regarding photorealistic 2D profiles I just can say that it will not be possible to reach what is possible with 3D programs.
Great improvemet Simon
I think you can be another candidate for the simmerspaintshop's mad list
I agree with you I made 2 max 3 profile for years... and I think I made very big progress in the last year...
here you can found a loot of interesting suggestion and good teacher, they help me a lot
I think the most important think is have fun and take our time for improver the tecnique
cheers

True words, Santino, this place is a paradise of information and help. Although I do despair briefly when I see something like BH's Zeroes. How does he DO that? I have to just keep drawing, drawing, drawing ....
The improvement is remarkable indeed, Simon! Although I agree with BH, I think your profiles have a style which is very good anyway and I don't think photorealism is that important. What I like with your drawings is that they show the colours and ammo pattern very well. (Plus BH has such a superb Zero that nobody wants to play that game with him).
hehehehe, no one would ever hire BH to do those Zeros as long as it takes, nor would anyone be able to pay even a quarter my usual hourly rate!![]()
UGH, I'll never make it in the business world![]()
