Try a page to x4btr, Mr. Erik Pilawskii.
He's a great guy who knows just about all there is to know about russian AC. Good luck.
Oh, and tell him I'll be knocking on his door soon, I fancy doing some La's.
May someone please help me? I need a list of LaGG-3 technical stencils badly. My PDF books have no... Maybe someone have such? Perhaps the modellers (on decals that come with models) ?
Thank you.
My best regards,
Mangas.
Thanks, mate.
I sent him couple of words... (waiting for his reply now)...
P.S.: I hope you'll be back to skinning someday... I truly miss your high-detailed work...
Sincere regards,
Mangas.
Privet Mangas,
Well, that is a brilliant question, actually. The short answer is that there will be very few stencils on any LaGG fighter, which is typical of VVS aviation in the GPW era. For example, the full set of stencils for the Yak-3 (even when applied, which was not always) would comfortably fit within a single paragraph; the same for the Mustang require 38 pages in small print, complete with placement measures!
The LaGG will be all the more challenging to understand in that the manufacturing programme was so absurdly haphazard and complicated. Without having proven it just now, I can assure you that the stencils applied at Gor'ky and Tbilisi will not be similar to each other, perhaps at all. I would presume that most early LaGGs will have no stencils, in the main.
However, I do not just now know the correct answer. It is not a topic which I have entertained so far. But, it is interesting. Therefore, I will look through my various material and see what I can find. It might take me a week or so, but I will have a look at my photos, then documents, and see if any information can be found. If you send me a PM, I'll pass on my e-mail address.
I look forward to your template work, and maybe we'll see some WIP screenshots soon? And thanks for the offer of help-- what is your research speciality?
Erik
How do you do, Eric?
I'm truly glad to make acquaintance with you.
Thanks very much for your work over "Soviet VVS Fighter Colours" book that is so informative and I refer to it quite often when I decide to make textures for our VVS planes...
Btw, I have something to show you but I'm quite new at this forum and can't find a way to PM you...
Looking forward to talk to you...
My best wishes,
Mangas.
Hello, Eric. Clicking your name doesn't have "Send PM" option also,
so I decided to use your visitor's messages option instead... Please, check it...
Best wishes,
Mangas.
