    Re: Heinkel He111 drawings

Would you gentlemen mind if I throw my hat into the ring? I have taken the liberty of fleshing out one of the He111 drawings . Since this is supposed to be a fighting machine, I have endeavoured to create that effect. I am not for simply adding blocks of colour to a sketch, I prefer my aircraft to look as though they could actually fly. The downside of this particular image is that I have never seen a Heinkel 111 from the side, only from below, when one was trying to eliminate me. It missed.
This is my fourth attempt at a profile, numbers two and three can be seen under the ?Learning Profiles? thread. I hope to get better. Meanwhile, maybe others will be encouraged to have a go?

    Re: Heinkel He111 drawings

    impressive

but wrong in a lot of ways, but as you are learning i will go easy on you.

1, splinter camouflage please, ther is no such thing as a single green topside colour on He111.

2, your leading edge needs the topside colour wrapping round passed the midway point.

start with those two and then we will go further, sorry someone else will take you further as i won't be here for 3 weeks, GM this is not an excuse to slip a couple through whilst i am not looking

    quick edit,
i think i can just make out the splinter camouflage, you need to redefine the colours

Very nice work. That wing appears to stand out from the fuselage very nicely. You have captured it well.

Two items do stand out to me. First, the camo color beneath the "A5" seems to have a different shading near the top of the fuselage, as well as the highlights in the middle. Not sure if this is just an illusion, though.

Second, you might consider a slightly more 'reflective' glass for the turret, and make the highlight more strong. Then add this same effect to the cockpit maybe? To me it looks like there is no glass in the cockpit.

a few images so you can see how far the upper surface clour wraps round.

also not how bad the underneath was covered in exhaust stains.

Thanks for the pics. I had no idea they wasted paint like that! Gotcha about the splinter camo. Found a couple more items whilst I was at it.
One thing I always do, though - I listen to experts, never too old to learn.
Maybe my next effort will be a little less fraught with pitfalls for the unwary like me.
