Finially i got my acts together and made a F-8. Now that i have done the base model i hope to be able to produce some more F-8?s more rapidly.
It still need some rivets, but it'll get there eventually.
For now, it?s back to the CVW-5 project !
Ahah! Let's have a Crusader contest! I currently have 78 Crusader profiles. I would be at 100+ by now but following my computer crash I had to stop. As soon as I have the new one, I'll start drawing more. Wanna join the race.
As far as your drawing is concerned, I'd make the following corrections:
*the radome shape is a bit bizarre: the underside looks off and needs revision. Also, 147916 should be a F-8D, with a smaller radome. This one looks like an F-8E with the bigger radome.
*the IFR bulge needs more shading and lighting, to show its shape. Same goes for the RWR on the fin tip: it looks a bit flat IMHO.
*you should tone down the highlight running on the fin. As it is, it's too strong and conveys the wrong shape to the eye.
*the natural metal section at the end of the fuselage goes too far forward (unless this is a very particular F-8?). The forward segment with the two round air intakes was generally painted and not NMF.
I like the way you've done the shadow cast by the wing: its opacity decreases gradually. That's a nice touch.
I hope you don't mind my comments: I'm just hoping they're constructive. I've been reading a whole lot about Crusaders and seeing many pictures in the last few months. My template isn't perfect either, as it's an upgrade of an early drawing, but I've developed a rather keen eye for the F-8.
