Howdy Howdy Howdy!
Happy New Year to all! I've been disturbingly busy with R/L for the past year but things are easing up considerably, so much so that I have started doing a good bit of graphics work for the first time in a long while.
Since they seem to have all but stopped making PC games, I've been reloading some of my old favorites and got back into the "Dawn of War" series, which is based on Games Workshop's science-fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000. In the course of seeing what that community has been up to, I met a very nice bunch of talented folks who are making a mod for the game and who were good enough to let me do some textures.
The modellers are really talented and have made all sorts of tanks, artillery, transporters, and what-not. I've recommended that anyone needing help or inspiration check in at Simmer's Paintshop - I know that the experten over here will help them out.
I started out doing 2D work - flags and decals -but they've let me get hold of a model and I'm having a ball! Here's what I'm working on, an Imperial Guardsman from the Hive World of Mordian.
It's good to have something to post here about.

Hey Vig good to see you back at the hobby and posting. Those are really slick looking textures you've done there. Quite professional!

Re: Howdy Howdy Howdy!
Thanks for the good wishes, y'all, I'm having a lot of fun.
Blowhard, I'm sorry to say that I don't have any spaceship textures - I'm inordinately fond of making spaceship models, but I've always colored them with procedurals because I couldn't figure out how to texture such an odd shape at one go, and I didn't realize until recently that I could break the model down into sections with seperate uv maps!
I'm continually over my head and learning to work whatever software I'm using, and yesterday I stumbled into a subprogram in my modeller that will let me divide the model into sections with individual textures. So, when I run out of spacemen to texture, I'll have a go at making delightfully riveted and rust-streaked textures for one of my spaceship models.
