    Re: Started something new

Thanks for the encouragement guys, I need it on this one.
Was given 2 weeks to et the job done, which I thought was impossible.
Nitrous coffee injection, food brought to the workstation and a pillow nailed to the wall for when I drift off . . . .sorted. Should be done and dusted for Wednesday.

I hear you fritzie, and you are quite right, the drawing has all but a few of the options turned on (layers), but this will be rectumfied by the end of play. I just hope I get time to draw the droptank too.

Those pics are great GFR, if I get time I will try to enhance the lighting, I’ve never seen photographs so clear on the 3D shape. I the trim tab only on the right hand side on the wing?

Looks splendid, Jesters! I wagoing to comment about the rear fuselage also, but BH beat me to it. I think you should simply make the highlight broader, and it should give it more depth. Other than that, it looks great.

    Re: Started something new

    Great work Jesters!!
Just to clarify the pics posted by GFR, these birds were photographed at Langley Field, VA during NACA tests during the war. The F6F-3 is a production plane that was test flown and also put in the Full Scale wind tunnel in 1943 for drag cleanup tests. The second airplane is the one and only XF6F-4, used for turbosupercharger tests in 1944. Thought I'd throw this info in before confusion over landing gear doors begins.

For some really close versions of the pics, see:

for other large enlargements of WWII aircraft in the collection, see:

    Really nice work, Jesters!

Well Gents, I have 2 days left so who knows if there will be much time for weathering . . .
I've split the 2 templates up, the -3 from the -5. Ignore the tank it went on in the last 5 minutes so plenty of work to do there yet.
I still have rivets to add to the AC, so the worktastic tomorrow.
Make this the dash 5 shall we? The dash 3 has been requested in UK colours . . . damn shame, but thats how it goes.

Jest, it's probably just me but the panel lines on the fuselage stars & bars insignia seem just a touch too dark, or maybe could be lightened more moving from the bottom to the top of the fuselage?

Jester and the word "finished" are like Victoria Beckham and "classy" being in the same sentence...they just don't go together.

Beautiful rendering. But it does appear a bit flat on the fuselage behind the wing, compared to the photos.
