As most of you probably know, we've had a bit of a bushfire down here. So far 181 dead and over 1800 homes destroyed. Needless to say we are all in something of a state of shock. It's officially the worst natural disaster in Australian history.
The guys that operate the Erickson Aircranes down here and I are getting together to create a fundraising print to sell at the Australian airshow at Avalon in a few weeks.
To this end, I'm working on a new profile of Elvis the Aircrane to include on the poster.
Here's the first bit of linework. I'll post more as it gets done. I would appreciate any feedback and the pointing out of any errors: we don't have a lot of time to get this done.
I'm afraid I won't be of much help as far as the line drawing is concerned but I will keep an eye on the drawing part and try to be of help. Let us know if we can do something.
What has happened in Australia is a real human tragedy. Neverless the poor animals living in the bush. The idea of the fundraising is really noble, and for sure your great artworks will be highly appreciated. Wish for you in a huge selling.
Regarding your big bird, I guess you have a first hand resource down there, so any help on details is meaningless. The overall shape seems to be correct...just one comment on the rear transmission "tree"...shoudln't it being running parallel to the fuselage?
BTW, can't wait to see it finished. There is an interesting Italian Forest Department livery too.... :-)
The Aircranes are all still off fighting fires, so no, there's not one here to shoot at the moment. Fortunately it is one of the world's most photographed helicopters, so there is plenty of reference. I also have someones personal walkaround to use.
Yes, the tail shaft should run parallel to the top of the tailboom deck. It has the bearing mounts in now too.
