    hi zamex my friend,

262 should have a rounded toblerone shape in cross section, how you can do this God only knows, but there is something bothering me about the "look" of the first profile, i will have a think about it tomorrow at work and see what fall off the shelf when i go round the corners a bit fast

    Hi Zamex!

Looks good so far! Here is a nice refernce how fuselage shadows and lights could look like.

Re: New Me 262s on the block

Viewed from the front, the 262 had a very triangular look to it. Jester's Ink posted a very good rendition here of this a/c a while ago which captured the shape very well. While we're on the subject of 262's, does anyone know what the hell Rudorffer's 262 looked like?

In my humble opinion, here's what's wrong with the shape:
Shadows: too broad and they come too far up the side of the fuselage
Highlights: too narrow and don't include the cockpit canopy frames, making the canopy appear to be vertical. The center of the highlight should be a bit lower perhaps?

This might help, it might not but here is where I got to with the 262.
The fuselage is like a squashed triangle shape except the front section of the nose.

Re: New Me 262s on the block

Nobody has a profile of Rudorffer's 262??? I'm speechless! I figured for sure with the vast pool of collective information we all have that SOMEBODY would have at least a profile of it. Photos would be better, but a profile is better than nothing.

Re: New Me 262s on the block

Zamex, you picked a pretty complicated shape. You've got the contours oversimplified, especially the engine pods. Even the mighty Jester hasn't gotten his as fully developed as I'd like to see. Just look at these photos, how the wing trailing edge molds into the tail cone-

Check out how the wing merges with the nacelle, not just a wing butting up to a tube; there's a lot of shape there.
Also look down the fuselage, that's a lot of shape! Not so rounded, no so flat either.

But you've got a good start, now flesh it out more! Get every photo you can find and see what they tell you. This of the plane of PLANES, it needs to be done correctly, but you can do it

    FAST AND BULBOUS!
