    As Goodwood already said many pics you see aren't really 3D renders but very effectivly edited screenshots and some are using real photos as backgrounds etc.

    A real 3D render is more difficult because you need the right programm (f.e. 3D Studio Max) and a 3D model plus the textures of the object you want to render. Here is a render that somebody did of one of the cars I textured for a race-sim for example...click. Of course you can also add backgrounds and much more objects, effects and so on.

    If you just want to have good screenshots you should see if you can't get the latest version of IL-2 running on your system because it already includes a "video-module" to record your flights. You can fly your mission and later check the video for the best shots. You can simply stop the video and capture the plane from every direction you want.
