    New method ver. 2

So, after trying my luck with the Rhino, I now tried to do some work on teh Prowler. I found this one quite difficult. The shading took me some tries to get right, but i think it looks ok. image 1-3
I have tried to make the surface of the fuselage and intake "bumpy" (thanks to the help i got from this forum! ). After studing some photo reference, I found that most Prowlers have a somewhat uneven surface, which is visible in some lighting conditions. I have tried not to overdo it...what do you think about the result ? image 4

IŽll add weathering and ordnance later.

So far so good. HereŽs the CAG bird of VAQ-139 from their current deployment aboard USS Ronald Reagan. What do you think ?

Looking good and again a favorite aircraft of mine! The bumpyness is good but I feel it looks a bit too strong, if an aircraft was on the flightline this dented I don't think a crewchief would sign off on it and no pilot would want to fly it. I'd tone it down to where it is just noticeable. Modern jets don't dent as badly as older pre-real-aviation-age aircraft. Skin plating has become stronger and materials have changed. Some older bombers like the B-52 and some tankers still show major skin warping but that is mainly due to them being VERY old and made using construction methods of the day.

    Thanks all of you !

I think you are right ! Looking at the aircraft in daylight the surface looks abit too bumpy...IŽll tone it donw on my next sample !

    Thanks

For weathering on US Navy planes you might try some off color paint touch-ups which you tend to see a lot on US Navy aircraft. I think that's more realistic then any bumping

    I agree,
less bumping, and more antirust finish, a bit more blueish than the mat grey.

I must admit, I see the improvements with time. Very good progress.

The prowler is also one of my favorites.

Wow! Your art work gets better and better!! Congrats!

Suggestion: the inner wing root leading edge for the EA-6 is more complicated than what you have. There's a break in sweep and a fairing there.

    Here's a look.

Serval, I hate to keep complaining about the new Gallery, but I tried searching the gallery for my EA-6 posts, but can't navigate that new search function--$#@^%%!!

BTW, the annual Oceana Air Show comes up next month and I hope to get us some new pics.
