Feather...?
I've seen the term 'feather' in some non-GIMP tutorials. I'm not sure what it means and is there an equivalent feature in GIMP?

Basically feathered edges help an image blend into the what ever layer or background it is sitting on top off. The edges are not a solid opacity it gradually fades the opacity inwards towards the object that has been feathered. You can change the amount that it feathers also. I would expect Gimp to have this feature maybe check the selection tools and look for a feathering setting or maybe in layers?

Ok. I am not familiar with gimp but I've just ask a mate of mine called Google and he says to look here.Feather Command in Gimp
