Layer Opacity Percentage Issue
Since I started working with GIMP a few months ago, I've noticed a quirky little problem with layer opacity. The opacity % setting changes on it's own, generally from 1-4%.
For instance, if I set a layer to 50% opacity, somewhere down the road it may change to 49%....then maybe later down to 48%, etc.
This happens even though I haven't touched that layer for several sessions. These changes seem to happen all by themselves. Not all layers are affected by these random changes, but I can't seem to figure out a pattern, if there is one.
In other words, the layer will be at 50% today. When I open the file tomorrow and look at the layer, it may have gone down to 49%. Then if I look at it a couple of days later, it may have gone down to 48%. Very strange.
The most they eventually change seems to be 3 or 4%, usually in 1% increments, so it's not a huge issue. However, if I have a layer at 10% and it changes to 7%, then it can be noticeable.
Is this a known issue with GIMP?

Re: Layer Opacity Percentage Issue
I have never noticed this myself. A quick search of Google didn't show any related results either, though perhaps my keywords were not on target.
Might try searching on a GIMP bug list, or filing a bug report, if you find no existing solution.

Re: Layer Opacity Percentage Issue
Hi Aviar
I have noticed this happen a few times when I have used mouse wheel
up and down on screen whilst veiwing image close up without realising that this is also adjusting the Opacity Slider on the last highlighted layer
whose Opacity I had recently adjusted[if that makes sense]
