Noob question: Removing text from merged layers?

Is this possible? I've done the whole thing but managed to add text to the wrong side of the wing.... Layers merged, saved and up and running, now I can't seem to find out how to remove that text without messing up the whole layer. Can't seem to make the next layer transparent either.

    Any solutions for this?

Let this be a lesson. Allways save a copy where layers are not merged.
Now the only way is to overpaint the text. Not something you want to do on a final image without layers.
Keeping a copy of your template (version wih all layers there) also elps you to easily make new version of the drawing which have other markings and/or text etc.

A screw up is a screw up. We all do 'em. Lesson learned.
