Hey hey! Great project. Is that red and gold in metalflake???? Gonna be fun if so!
BTW, about what year is that photo of the race?
I must be insane to start something like this...
The real car-
And what it looks like now-
I'm not sure how far I'll go with this one but the bug got me today and I couldn't resist it
The wheels are just place holders. I wanted to see how much work they would be. It looks like a WHOLE lot more work than I can do in one day![]()
FAST AND BULBOUS!

I'm not sure if it's candy red over metal flake but if it isn't it's candy red over gold mettalic for sure. Definately gold leaf lettering though
That photo is 1967...I think. He built the car and started racing it in 66 and sold it to KS Pittman who ran it under his own name, but otherwise unchanged in 68-69. It's hard to believe an Austin A-40 could look so cool

FAST AND BULBOUS!
That is really cool! I may have to have a go at a drag racing Beetle at some point.
MMMM...Glossy.
This one will be more difficult than it looks.
Will watch with interest.
I find most modern cars dull. An A-40 looks cool anytime IMO.It's hard to believe an Austin A-40 could look so cool![]()
Hey, BH, this is going to be good! Quite a change of theme for you. Chrome AND gloss!
Watch your door window, it appears to taper on your drawing, but the top and bottom are parallel in the photos.
There sure are some subtle curves on that baby!
Grubby.
The subject almost triggered my spam hammer.
But I'll follow this one for sure.
Is this one still stalled at the start line?
Yeah, it's rusting in my backyard hard drive
BTW, you're right Grubby, I need more work, and not just the windows.
Someday maybe.
