    Re: Hard New Year's Day... Fw190D 1945

    Hi BLOWHARD
Your informations and pictures are very interesting, but I think that we are not talking about the same airplane (Stab./JG2. Pilote: Fw Werner Hohenberg, shot down 1st of January 1945 ), and I cannot confirm a spiral on the spinner on my view. May be you are right
Thank Otterkins for these 6 cowl styles. I didn't know that there ware some many styles...And good luck for tracks management... ("It's a long way to....")

    Re: Hard New Year's Day... Fw190D 1945

    Hi folks!

some notes regarding the missing canopy on the only existing photograph. In this case you have to check if there are any photographs of planes of the same W.Nr. batch.
210079, 210239, 210022,... (first series at Focke Wulf Cottbus) all have the old style of canopy.

Spiral: I can't find at the moment, but there was an official order by the RLM, that the fighter planes must have these spirals. (maybe someone knows this official paper) Not all planes really had this spiral, but I'm sure a Stab-plane had it. Also compare with other JG 2 planes. (Eagle Editions book) All known had them.

    Letters of the W.Nr.:
On the detail scans of Mr. Wrobels profile you see the right style of the letter "4". Rest of your looks good. They look handpainted. (as common at this series)
Swastika: size looks okay, but just compare your swastka with the photograph you have postet. The space between the black parts was smaller.

I know that I'm a little bit fussy, but in really many cases we don't have such good reference pics. If yes there is no space for artistic freedom.

    Cheers,
    Simon (mutating to "John2" )

PS: Otter: Mea culpa! Didn't know that you have done all the MG cowers. But I'm little bit confused because that you noticed this really small detail and not the old style canopies at early Doras.

Ah Simon, Simon! I'm hardly asleep at the switch here. I'm aware that the early style canopy was reportedly used and so the option for including it is in my complete drawing along with drop tanks etc. It's just that photos of the beast wearing that canopy are pretty rare, so I didn't include it (or the MG cowls, drop tanks etc.) here...but I should have known you'd pick up on it!

As with most of my Lutwaffe drawings, they are designed so that you can rather quickly assemble almost any variation of it. My Anton for instance can be converted to any R and/or U variant, or it can be converted to an F or G just as quickly. The 109 series works the same way. To do that though, you would need my full set of drawings.
