No, TIFF has no layers.
Save it in the default Photoshop format, that has the layers.
Photoshop will create a PSD file
~S~ ALL
after I finish my skin work for the day I save the file in tiff format so I can come back to it and still have the lyaers ... Is this the correct way to do it?

Actually, TIFF does have layers, but they are not very flexible compared to default .PSD and .PSP formats.
hmm when I reopen the Tiff I have all my layers still.
so I should "save as" PSD ?
did I lessen the quality when I use tiff?
If you start with a new file or when you converted a void.bmp to RGB colordepth (Image - mode). Then just clicking Save would come up with the PSD format standard.
If the file had another format, like JPG and worked on that ,then you should choose Save as and then select PSD.
I don't think you lost quality, but you might loose some special Photoshop effects in TIFF.
PSD is Photoshops own format, so you are sure that it keeps everything the way Photoshop likes it best. For TIFF I cannot guarantee that. Though a little testing I did looked promesing. Quite some things were kept in TIFF.
Right, just "save as" .psd and you'll be fine. The TIFF format won't didn't lose any quality.
As Serval said, the TIFF does keep some stuff, but the . PSD is much better. One simple reason: Some graphics programs don't understand TIFF files with layers, and if they are opened in those programs, the layers are all flattened!![]()
With PSD, this will never happen.![]()
ok sounds good
when I open a skin file, il2 or aces high, its bmp and to paint it I convert to rgb . how I do this is to select mode = rgb I hope thats correct. then when its time to save I will as you mention save as PSD.
thanks
