Re: My first profile, a Hurribird

Only improvement that really jumps out at me is to make the flat area behind the cockpit slightly lighter, now it looks a tad to dark to me Overall very strong work!

    Happy Hollydays, Gents!

I have had time to fiddle a bit more with the Hurri between pork roast and keeping the kids from picking appart the Christmass tree. I have tried to take your comment into account. I'm not sure if I have lightened the area behind the cockpit enough, or if perhaps it should have more highlights.

As soom as this pesky 3D is done, I'm going to start on all the fun parts!

    Picture without ribbing for clarity.

I'm not sure about what to do with the spinner. The upper propeller blade casts a shadow which makes it difficult to get it to look right. Is the spinner highlight too sharp compared to the rest?

Down part of spinner - shadow is to strong and makes very sharp border on spinner.

An old artists trick "squint" at your drawing, if something stands out stronger than the rest, be it shadow or highlight, then it probably could use backing off a bit. Another thing I have been thinking about, highlights and shadows are never constant in real life, you can try building high spots and low spots into your drawing to make them less perfect.

btw, love the way this drawing is taking shape, should be one of the best hurri drawings around when you finish her up.

Happy New Year to you all
