    For me strange is that the camouflge pattern exactly matches borders on the both tail surfaces...depends on point and angle of view, right? if you make the borders a bit nonsolid, then also the tail would be more differenciable...

    What the mode is in Photoshop is a guess on my part to as my work is done using Paint.NET (latest version). What I've done though to get the same effect is set the layer mode to overlay:



    Compared to a profile where the layer mode is set to normal with opacities between 120 and 160 no a 250 scale:



    Which looks best bearing in mind I'm not aiming for a photoreal finish like a few people on this site but more of a finish you'd see in books like Military Aircraft Markings & Profiles by Barry Wheeler.
