    Re: First Profile Halifax

So what am I...chopped liver? If my drawings ain't accurate, nothing is. I go through major headaches to get them right. Just ask John, whom I have plagued endlessly for info.

In my humble opinion they really need propeller blades, or alternatively be glossed over (as if in motion), for a more pleasing look.
Thanks. I was was able to take some dimensions off the most authentic Halifax left in the world (NA337). I guarantee that I am the only person in this group that has had that luxury. Even still, as someone that produces engineering drawings for a living, I would categorize this as artwork. I was also told by the restoration team that even the drawings from Handley Page were not a perfect match as many components were made from patterns that were modified on the shop floor.

Your point about the props is a valid one, I do have a layer with prop blades but I am not happy with it. I have not tried showing the props in motion, perhaps that is a better solution.

    Re: First Profile Halifax

    right,

because someone thinks mr grangers drawing are not correct, i have checked the leading edge sweepback, it should be 9 degrees according to the rigging manual, mr grangers drawing is spot on, have not checked SW's but they look to be somewhere between 12 and 15 degrees, now that is a major error, do i need to go on and spend the rest of my holiday proving the length from the trailing edge to the rear of the aircraft

John, do you have anything on the Preston green ventral turret? Info is in short supply on it.

Thanks, there was a two gun version that was experimented with by 431 squadron for a brief period. The turret as a whole was largely unsuccessful and some of the ORBs for bomber squadrons indicate that they were unmanned a lot of the time.

The one photo taken from the exterior is the best one that I have seen with perspex in it, most appear windowless either becuase they were or the photos were taekne from too far away.
