    Hmm.. on reflection maybe you are right - I have tried a new shading to slim the tail down a little:

    Still not totally convinced, I'm sure one of the other B-17 threads had some good plans that John chucked up and there were changes to the tail between the variants, the chin turret is too deep as well for a G also not sure about the light waist gun window as they were off set so through the window the only thing on the other side would be the fuselage.
