    alpha channels in diffuse fsx

    totaly new to painting...using gmax1.2....pspx2....

how they work?, how you make them?,how do you save them?.
how do you apply them?.what do they look like?.

or possibly, everything in the universe and including everthing outside the universe...that i could possibly want to know about alpha channels..?.

i am using fsx...but any info gratefully received....

i wonder if there are some things, i will never understand, because i am not intelligent enough..like advanced calculus......thanks jim..

Re: alpha channels in diffuse fsx

pspx2 deprecated normal map nvid plugin.....so ive switched to gimp, nice explanation of alpha channels..unlike pspx2s cryptic manual....saw advice pspx2 good for photographers, not so good for texture artists....

pspx2 claims can only save alpha to psp image file.....i need tga or psd...

    binned pspx2.....jim

Thanks for the update, glad you got things moving.

I don't have any experience with PSPX2, but your solution may be useful to others down the road.

GIMP is quite capable software. I've used it for years now.

    All the best!

20 minutes with gimp..and i feel at home....the gimp help is very good..

some good tutorials on this site...running on w7 64...no probs so far...

havent tested my graphics tablet with it yet...

uvw mapping now complete, except for vc...2 2048 texture sheets...start the painting and utilising the fsx special functionality...soon....some anims to sort...uvw,md3,lithunwrap...wont export linked objects...some re links and anims to do...but paint can be done in tandem..as long as no vertices are moved....jim
