The second version looks much better to my totally uneducated eye. By this I mean I have no idea whatsoever of how it should look like, and that this is purely a personal opinion.
The one problem is indeed that it looks too clean and computer-generated. I assume you'll be starting the weathering now.
If I can give a little bit of advice: make multiple layers of weathering, even barely visible ones: noise, tiny scratches, etc.
That's what I do with mine. If I turn on/off one of the layers, the difference is barely noticeable. The multiplication of these weathering layers makes it looks irregular and aged IMO.
