Photoshop CS4 heavy stuttering...

I'm at a loss to work it out, I've only got four gig of ram in my machine, photoshop sees less than half of that but I regularly work with files of up to 200mb without any real issues, a little slow at saving but that is it.

Document size is going to be A3 300ppi rgb. There are about 150 history states and three scratch disks with a lot of spare space, no idea if that would really make a difference though.

What CPU do you have?

I've got an Intel Dual Core Quad running at 2.66 GHZ and have had the same set up for the last 3 years, soon be time for an upgrade
