Re: Baa baa black sheep - F4 Corsair

This is perfect weathering, but it better suits for tanks... So far it looks like they have dig this aircraft from the sand grave...
You should definitely make some tanks digital art, mate! They'd be the best!
Other than that -- very nice work (as well as P-40s)...

    Thanks guys for your comments.
Here is the final Corsair with less weathering. Sure, it's look better now...you were right.

Hi BLOWHARD, and thank you for your comment on my profile and the book. This book was quite hard job (15 profiles + blueprints) but I've received yesterday some issues from my editor and I must says that the result is very nice.
See you soon on the forum. Normaly, I will be back with a Il2 Sturmovik, but this is an other adventure !
    Regards

Quite the nicest piece of work I've seen on these pages for a while. Not dead keen on the glass or prop shortage, otherwise superb.

Thierry your profiles are beautiful and this Corsair is no exception. However, Boyington's 'white 86' carried the name 'LULUBELLE'.

Thanks all for your very sympathic comments.
Lucybelle or Lulubelle.....I tend to agree it's Lucybelle (Mrs. Lucy Malcolmson)...
    All the best.

I am not sure if my glasses and eyes plays tricks on me, but aren't the victory marks on photo differently oriented than on the profile ? Seems they should be switched horizontally to match original...

Re: Baa baa black sheep - F4 Corsair

No, it's not your eyes, and you are right, in fact VMF214 did not assign individual aircraft and pilots simply flew what was available at the time. The famous Corsair 86 was used for propaganda photos and I suppose that the 20 victory "flags" displayed on "86" were applied "slapdash" and they vary in size, position, attitude and alignment. May be it's the reason why you don't have the same victory flags on the two picture, but the nicknam was certainly painted and Boyington had given Corsair "86" the temporary name of "Lucybelle" and not "Lulubelle".
