If it's line based it has to be vector for me, there's a movement to get Freehand released and made open source. Don't know if any of this lot could be of use.
Personally I don't think I could change from photoshop/illustrator these days.
Hey guys, I was just asked what Application/Program (I think for PC) would I suggest for doing simple line drawings of aircraft including basic color fills etc.
I know PS an Ill but I'm thinking there must be other cheaper less intensive things that don't take so long to learn.
Would GIMP do the trick? What else is out there?
What are your recommendations???

GIMP does do paths, and on the raster side is good with layers. Most everything I posted in the last few years on SPS, I've done with GIMP.
Photoshop Elements was also nice back when I used version 2. One of the best "cheap" graphics packages that I had used up to that point. I was not as impressed with later releases, though, and didn't buy them and so can't comment on their suitability.
GIMP or anything else will have a learning curve, but the basics should be pretty straight forward.
Thanks guys, I'll pass it along![]()
