i know what you mean about being resilliant,
but for some strange reason it faded fast when exposed to the sunlight, but then again all reds do. and it seems to go dark not lighter like most colours

    vacajun,
it is a optical illusion, put a ruler on it, they are straight

Vuk, brilliant find! I've been looking for it for years!
I scrolled through the video and at 51:10 you can see a Ki-44 buzz by. Maybe there are others but I haven't positively identified them yet.
Are you also able to find Abe Yutaka's 'The Flaming Sky' (Moyuro Ôzora) made by Toho in 1940 by any chance? It's a movie about Ki-27s which would be awesome reference for my current work-in-progress!

Vacajun, in aerodynamics wing sweep often uses the 1/4 chord sweep as a reference, in which case you could indeed say that the wings of the Ki-44 are forward swept. The leading edge is dead straight though, as John already pointed out. But the panel lines do run forwards, creating this optical illusion.

I'm glad I was able to help, but it seems it's going to be hard to find Yutaka's movie. Nothing so far, but I'll keep trying. While I was looking for it, I found that same guy was doing special effects for both Moyuro Ozora and Kato Hayabusa Sentotai - Eiji Tsuburaya. Later, he will do special effects for Godzilla!

    Thanks Javo!

Awesome HD(!) footage from Kato Hayabusa Sento-tai!
    Freeze-frame at 3:51, 4:59 and 5:58 for some Ki-44 action!

Aaah, that's great ! Now I'll have movie weekend. By the way, one thing is crossing my mind lately: since music is one of my hobbies, does anyone knows any video with aviation footage? I can't recall anything except Iron Maiden's Aces High
