    RNLAF Piper L-21B Super Cub

Since I am home sick with the flue I figured I might as well get some modelling done! I recently purchased an airbrush but never really learned to use it properly so I figured I would buy a simple kit and focus on the airbrushing. I combined the two Revell Piper Kits in 1:32 to make a RNLAF L-21B Super Cub. I used the wings and engine from the float equipped kit and put them on the fuselage and undercarraige from the other Revell cub.

I made a couple of beginners mistakes and it is not done yet but I am quite pleased with how my first airbrush camouflage paintscheme turned out.

The big problem when I dabble in airbrushing one of those plastic things is that I forget it isn't photoshop and there is no undo!

Nice change from your usual subject so why didn't you pick up a Starfighter kit?

Hope you get better but also have time to finish the kit off.
    Harriers...uppy downy things.

Well I have a Hasegawa F-104G but it has raised panel lines and is really a kit from the eighties, I am waiting for the new Italeri kit that is coming out this year and then I will do more F-104's then you can stomach I am surprised you haven't freaked out about the box it is standing on though

NICE! Always glad to see models! I haven't touched one in several years but I still love looking and thinking about them. Let me know if you want any airbrushing tips.

    Looks nice Supah.

I've been enjoying some scale modeling again too. Testing out my new work bench building a mini display case/diorama for those paper trucks. Tonight I built four 55 gallon drums.

No way I can airbrush them, though. The scale gust of wind would blow them away!

Going to leave it as is on this model, my next one a F-84G also in the colours of the RNLAF will be a test of some weathering and my first NMF scheme. Got the wheels and prop on the cub and did some touch up painting. Also tried some photography with my DSLR and 580EX flash unit.

These photo's sure show up every little blemish, in hindsight I should have painted the inside of the cowling black.

Thanks! The main thing I am running into now is the nozzle clogging up sometimes, I clean it like the DVD I got with it shows and also sometimes I soak the parts in Ammonia (I use acrylics) overnight. I remove the O-rings before I do. Other then that I learned that lower pressure = more fun, higher pressures just tend to make it a lot more difficult to do a nice job.

Nice! I barely have the patience for this kind of modelling, let alone on the scale of your trucks

I don't shoot acrylic very often but it will dry and clog as you go. I'm sure there are tricks to keep it from happening though.
