Gimp 2.8 File Type Extension Choices
I was using Gimp version 2.6 for a long time and I really liked it. Recently, I updated to version 2.8. When saving work in 2.6, there were a lot of File Type (by extension) choices.
Now in 2.8, there are like only 3 choices. What happened? I used to save a lot of files as bmp but now that is not available. Where did all the choices go? Is there something I am missing?
I'm thinking of going back to 2.6.

Re: Gimp 2.8 File Type Extension Choices
I haven't used GIMP in nearly a decade, but a lot of graphics programs have switched file types and extensions that used to be under "Save As" to a new option in the file menu called "Export". It looks like that's exactly what GIMP's done with 2.8.

Re: Gimp 2.8 File Type Extension Choices
I've used 2.8 for several projects now. The "Save" command seems to be geared as saving the file you opened, or creating a derivative file with "Save as...".
To create a flattened image of a file the "Export" command appears to work. I choose "Export" then type in the desired file name and extension. I just type .BMP after the file name and it exports bitmaps.
