    The magic of Photoshop

In the living of my parents' house is a watercolour of a "Poilu", a French soldier of World War One. I've never been able to decipher the artist's signature, and I can only guess that it was painted in the 1920s or 1930s. I've always liked this painting, which has unfortunately suffered from exposure to light and humidity over time.

One day, I decided to try and do something about it. Of course, I wouldn't dream of touching the watercolour itself as I am absolutely not qualified to restore any form of artwork and wouldn't want to damage the original with amateur experimentations.

So I took a picture of the painting and worked on it with Photoshop:

With a little bit of work, I was able to remove the stains and bring back the colours to their initial state (as far as I can guess, and based on a little experience with aquarelle):

The photos are something unusual and a great experience in photoshop is needed to create such amazing painting. I am just some kind of editing task till now but now getting interested to try my hand on such thing also.
