    Staghound

    Hi Guys,

Now for something completely different, an armoured car! It's not even remotely civil!

There will be a few NZ and Aus versions of this one. It will be fun adding some cast textures to the turret as things were almost Russian-rough. No gloss this time.

    Here's the linework so far.

    Grubby.

    Nice lineart as always.

Besides the one at the RAAC Museum at Pukka, are there any others in Oz?

    Re: Staghound

    Thanks, Guys.

James, I think there might be two at Pucka. There is another at the Army Corp Museum, Gaza Ridge Barracks, Bandiana (see pic).

That's all I know of, but it's not my sphere of interest, so I wouldn't be sure.

    Re: Staghound

I started this Staghound render at the top and the first item was a .30 Cal Browning. No sweat.... 8 hours later I am getting close! This was a real surprise to me.

Blowhard, how long did those guns on your WW1 stuff take?

So long I don't remember Probably around 8-10 hours, maybe less...but it's hard to say.
Your .30 is really nice looking!!!

Even pixelated that does look nice and if the rest of it is the same it'll be a great profile. Though I dread to think of the hours you'll be putting in on it.

    Re: Staghound

I have put extra time into this as I have this idea of creating 1:1 scale prints of various weapons. Therefore, each time I do one, I go all-out!

What's the file size and the pixel dimension on something like this and do you plan on doing a 1:1 of the ultimate weapon the Death Star?

Seriously though I'm assuming you do them all at 300ppi so that is going to be a big old size which I don't think the computer will be too happy with.

    Re: Staghound

This has been done at 350mmW @ 300ppi.

It should print at around 120dpi @100% of actual size.

File size is 270mb open and there are around 200 layers.

My computer crapped itself a month ago so I am now running a brand new Apple 27" iMac with 3.4 Ghz processor and 24 Gb of RAM. It has no problem whatever so far. My files regularly get up around 2-3Gb and I'm not anticipating any trouble.

It's money I didn't want to spend. The old machine was running fine.

    Here's a 100% screen grab:
