Sharx & The Return of IL-skins.com
Please see this thread and note that it would NOT be the demise of this site, but could help it quite a bit by joining forces and working together while keeping the automomy we all want....

Re: Sharx & The Return of IL-skins.com
Sounds good except for the forums. Forums that invite political/social/religious debates just attract argument hounds. What made IL2Skins special was how Sharx moderated his forums in a way to bring us all together. We still have that here. I won't support anything that invites argument and divisiveness.

LOL! I know who moderated the forums at IL2Skins. I used "Sharx" in the corporate sense!

Re: Sharx & The Return of IL-skins.com
At first sight it looks pretty commercial to me also.
But like others said, people have a choice to go elsewhere.
I wouldn't know why a 'new il2skins' would mean the demise of this site. This site has nothing in common with a il2skins like site. il2skins would want to host skins for the il2 community and have a forum (like almost every other site). Our goal is to provide some information to people who want to make skins and aim on every simulator that supports skins.

You know, that thread was nothing out of the UBI ordinary from what I saw. The pressure to closure is odd.

Re: Sharx & The Return of IL-skins.com
I think most of the Il-2 PF community wil collapse and run over to BoB once it is released. Will he host BoB skins too? otherwise his new Il2skins.com site will have a limited life.
Anyways, I am thankfull that capitalism hasn't got it's claws in this sim. For the most, all but the core products are available for free on diffrent websites. Skins, missions, campaigns and stuff. Not like the M$FS community at all. Where you have to pay like 40 Euro's and get one, yes only one, aircraft. It is not that I don't want to pay money for the things I like to do but, I dislike people trying to make money out of things that are free elsewhere.

Re: Sharx & The Return of IL-skins.com
Just a slight correction, for every payware MSFS plane there are about 1000 freeware planes
The MSFS freeware stuff is never ending and much of it is very good

Indeed. I know you are right Hunhunter. But why are people still buying this kind of stuff then? Funny how some companies release their work on websites for free download. Have you checked out the Beech staggerwing at simviation.com?
