    Odd F6F-3, VF-6

    AJ Press has completely redone their Hellcat book, with 100 more pages and English text. Hundreds of photos are included, many that I've never seen before. Which brings us to....

    An VF-6 F6F-3 with an unusual field-applied paint scheme. Flown by Alex Vraciu. Includes Unnumbered VF-6 and USN only versions.

    Forgive my ignorance but I don't know much about Hellcats and their paintshemes but, what is so odd about this one?

    Heh heh, for the F6F, anything that's not 100% in line with regulation is an odd sight. The intermediate blue overpainting on the fuselage makes it a rare scheme. But yeah, it's still blue.
