I've been through the skins and there is no name that I can see.
Have you given your F6F template out to anyone? Start there and work your way through.

Yes, there is a whole series of "RRG" skins installed with 1946.

Not a very good start for RRG

No, I haven't given out the F6F template. It would involve shrinking/condensing it for upload, which takes quite a bit of work.

Well that would explain why I thought when looking at your gif animations that it looked like the markings were cut off of a finished, flattened skin. And in that case, it's why the rivets and wear marks are still in the markings.

Yes, the underlying skin on the "RRG" example is definitely not mine. The stars and the unit markings bear a conspicuous similarity though. And they do look to be cropped from a flattened skin. The thing that originally caught my eye was the scratch on top of the ammo cover on the wing. Also, on the fuselage stars there's a squeeze to compensate for a slight stretch on the model in addition to an upward slant to match the way it was painted on real F6F's. It seems highly unlikely that two skinners would do that exactly the same. Not to mention all the dirt and rivets.

This just goes to prove what I've always said, "a skinner can spot his own work a mile off". SO DON'T NICK IT! Even if its the slightest of things.

Very interesting. I kept looking at them, there are enough details that are different to show that they are not just recolored. On the other hand, they line up perfectly. I wouldn't call these 100% copies as the surface work isn't nearly as good. But, there is no mistaking that the markings DO have your detail on them, without doubt! They are not even just position copies. And that's what's weird, the markings can be done SO easily, especially if one is copying another's file.
Just to play devil's advocate, this could be a miscommunication between artist and art director. Could it be the artist was given your skins and told to copy them and not given clear instructions that the art wasn't owned by RRG?
Have you contacted them? I would, if they want to use your art they can pay for it or compensate you somehow. If not they will NEED to withdraw it!
    Sad state of affairs
What is RRG? (Remember, I'm a Mac guy, I'm not invited to this party) What is IL246, the same guys who did IL2? It IS for pay, yes? Does IL-2 ask for permission or otherwise compensate for use of artwork? Is RRG connected with IL-2?

Re: Have a look at this.......

One other question, the maps look the same. Your F6F was based on the IL-2 model, or the model used in IL-2? Did you use anything from the original void or template?
Not that it excuses anyone copying your work mind you, just a question that comes to mind. I was just wondering if the stars/bars were the same size and placement on the IL-2 skin in the beginning.

Yeah, that could be a possible scenario. No, I haven't contacted them yet. I wanted to get the opinion of some of the others around here first.

RRG is a development studio that works with/for 1C:/Maddox Games. Il246 is the comprehensive version of the IL2 series. If they have compensated the skinners for their work, I don't know. It's not my business, so I don't ask.
