The tailcode is on the folding part of the wing, and the modex number is on the inner part of the wing

Generally speaking yes, but in some cases there is only the tail code or the modex number, or nothing. As markings were generally identical on a squadron's aircraft, I'm hoping to find a 1976 picture of an VF-194 Crusader that shows what the markings are. If I can't find anything like it, I'll probably add the standard letters and modex.
