Fw190A-4 PE882, ex W.Nr.7155
In the early hours of 17th April 1943 this Fw190A-4/U8 was among a number of SKG 10 aircraft
dispatched on an experimental moonlit fighter-bomber raid on targets in Southern England.
Having dropped a 250kg (550lb) bomb on his allotted target near the River Thames in London's
East End, the pilot headed back towards France. However he became disorientated en route and
running short of fuel landed at RAF West Mailing in Kent.
Test flown by the RAE, the aircraft was serialled PE882.
After a year it was passed to No.1426 (IEAC) Flight at Collyweston, but unfortunataly crashed
in October of that year, killing its pilot.
Also included is one skin with full UK markings and one with a tail flash only
