Why don't you just save it as TGA with the GIMP?
Hi everyone. I've been looking around and I'm just gobsmacked at the high quality work that you guys are doing here. Awesome.
Anyhoo, I'm trying to make decals for a 'what-if' type aircraft for Third Wire's 'Wings Over Vietnam' and have located the source roundel but cannot seem to get it to show up. I'm using GIMP to select the roundel and then saving a copy as a TGA using IRFANVIEW but it's just not happening for me so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I did try, and I've re-tried just now, but it's not working.
I've saved the roundel as an 'xcf' and a 'tga' - I must be missing something here!
Hi Spinners,
I'm not sure what the file types for Third wire are, but tga files are also used for Targetware. I've found that when saving in .tga format, a box pops up asking about "RLE compression" and "Origin at bottom left". I make sure both of these check boxes are not checked. Perhaps that may help you out.![]()
That pop-up box sounds familiar so I'll give that a try later (on a different PC right now).
Thanks.
Thanks Guys. Both of you have helped and I'm up and running now.

Whilst I can do this using GIMP I can't seem to be able to do this using Photoshop Elements 6. Any advice would be appreciated!
