    506th Fighter Group Sreenies

I don't know what's kept me from posting here since I started making edits again. Laziness, I suppose. To catch people up on what I've been doing lately, here's 3 composites that I've done depicting P-51 Mustangs from the 506th Fighter Group, which was stationed on Iwo Jima in the closing months of the war.

First up is the shot that got me restarted. "Lil Ole Meanie II"
It's a lightly edited screenshot of a P-51 from the 457th FS diving in for a run on an unsuspecting target.

    Full sized 1680x1050 version here.

This picture was made by request of the family of the plane's pilot, 2LT Robert B Harvey of the 457th FS. Robert Harvey was lost on the infamous Black Friday June 1st mission, where quite a few Iwo-based P-51s were lost trying to fly through a large storm on the way to Japan. This particular rendering is only partly historical, as there are no known pictures of the plane or it's nose art. All that is known is the serial number and the (probable) side number.

    Full size version (2558x1684)

This shot was made for the son of the Pilot, Capt JJ Grant (he also the runs the 506th's website). Apparently one of his favorite 'pastimes' as a pilot in the 462nd Fighter Squadron, 506th Fighter Group was strafing Japanese trains.

    Man, that is just awesome!

I especially like the 1st one. Do you have any other P-51 screens in store?

Yes, I need to work on a shot similar in concept to the middle picture for Ed Linfante's #616 "Shangahi Lil", which is something he's requested. There was another artist working on one, but I think he's forgotten about it.

Besides that, I'm not sure. See, there's this profile bug that bit me....
