    Comment on my first freehand shading ^^



    There she is... Making a HH-60K from the American 160th SOAR (From the incedent "Black Hawk down")

    Amidoinitrite?
    any tips? This is the first time i am lighting it, and first time i am shading it without presets.

    It's a start IP and better than I can do. As an artist though, my feeling is that you are far too dark. By the time you do a colour overlay the image will be nearly black. Be subtle when using shading...a light touch. Think of it as your girlfriend. Hopefully the masters here will chime in soon, but you've made a start. Hang in there. It just gets better.

    What I do now (having been inspired by Jesters, Sparty and Graf) is draw the aircraft in 50% grey and shade/highlight it. Only once I'm satisfied with shape definition do I apply any colour (or the metal effect). That's one technique, which works for me.
