had to do this for a magazine article. looks kinda ugly but has grown on me. I fooled around with the torpedo to give it that "oiled" look.
can anyone confirm the striped rudder for the feb 1942 timeframe ? Wildcats and SBDs had them then, but i can find no photographic proof that the TBDs did

Yep, had stripes on 'em at least as late as the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942. Lots of photos in the Squadron book. Your lower front fuselage doesn't have that "pregnant" look of the airplane, and what are the two bands under the wing?
