I tried the al. finish on an RV, but am not too happy as it looks like it's been out in our Seattle weather too long... I'd be interested in figuring out a good way to do polished AL. as well.

Here's the next 150 installment. I haven't touched the highlights yet. I'll do that last when the thing is fully assembled. I'll attach a close up of the polished metal too.

RV: Take a look at the pics our companions here have posted in this thread. Notice how the highlights and reflections start and stop at the panels lines and the way they flow around rivets and contours? Try applying that to your highlights, even running the eraser with a nearly hard edge over where the panel lines are and removing chunks of highlight might give you some of the effect.
You could also try the Chrome filter like I used.
I think my little 150 is done!

Grubby, my suggestion comes here, thought I like much your effect. There is something too "soft" in your Cessna, talking about polished metal effect. How about making a stronger color, especially below? And also the red paint should have different light reflection than the bare metal, maybe more matte, also to enhance the difference on the materials. See my idea here:
I love the effect you've created, Grubby, but I think you should scale it differently. What I mean is that the close-up is great but when you zoom out and show the entire airplane, it looks greyish and those great reflections disappear.
I don't know if I'm making myself clear or not. What do you think?
Hi Gamary,
I see what you mean, but it prints up quite well. It does lose something in the jpegging and reduction for posting.
Overall I'm pretty happy with it as it is, and so is the customer, which is the main thing!

I lightened things up a bit in trying to repro some of the more polished skins I've seen. This is kind of in interesting problem to solve.
